FuManChu Cupcakes is at 826 Lamar Ave., 28204.  With cupcakes like White Russian and Breakfast Stout, how could you not want to check them out?  They do events and will deliver and also have just opened their own storefront with countertops and fronts that look like baking batter.  Go get a blueberry cupcake with almond blueberry custard inside.  Call them at 704.817.4134 or get their Android App. www.FuManChuCupcakes.com

Did You Know?Arrington’s Boutique has several fashion shows per year.  Just in April there was a wonderful turnout as Todd Alexander presented his show “Seduction” (just another successful event in a string of shows featuring styles he has in his storefront).  Go see him at 200 W.Woodlawn Rd., Suite I, 28217, 704.527.9266, www.ArringtonsBoutique.com

My City featured the Little Free Library this past winter and we are delighted to find out that our readers and partners are starting boxes of their own.  Please continue to let us know if you have started your own (email ellen.gurley@mycitymagazine.net) and visit NoDa’s own location at 704. E. 36th Street (Linwell Farms) one lazy weekend day after coffee at Smelly Cat or any Friday night while you’re already in the neighbourhood for the gallery crawl.

didja-article-052014-001Didja know that there is an outfit of performers in Charlotte known as Kabarette Vulgare that can entice, delight and provoke your senses with burlesque, human darts, glass walkers and more.  Take the time to see BethAnn Phetamine, Shirley Sweet, Mighty Miss White and Cherry von Bomb yourselves.  They have a monthly called “Stiletto” at Snug Harbor on Thursdays at Scott Weaver’s “Shiprocked”.  Keep up with them on the www.MyCityMagazine.net event page. www.facebook.com/sideshowspectacular

My City Magazine would like to congratulate NoDa Brewing Co. for winning a gold at the World Beer Cup.  They never cease to amaze us as they get recognized nationally and continue to keep themselves rooted in Charlotte (with beer in the Panther’s stadium and having created our Knights their own ale).  Visit their taproom.  It is a must try. www.NoDaBrewing.com

The Charlotte Symphony has just announced their shows for the rest of 2014 and for the beginning of 2015.  Keep up with them at www.CharlotteSymphony.org and always on the event page of www.MyCityMagazine.net .
