Mikal KHill

I met emcee and producer Mikal KHill pre 8 Mile, out there proving his worth, when he and his boys were on the same bill as some groups I was then managing (shoutout to the Others/the Katsckillz Project and the DiSoRiEnTaLiStS) at a show at the Hungry Duck (thanks, Blackwoods). Kid was dropping the most intelligent rhymes that could fall off the notepad in a nerd’s burlap napsack. Those were the earliest ’00s, now a father of two and a husband (to another self-ascribed geek), Mikal kHill can usually be found at a hacker convention, gaming with his wife, flowing or learning another instrument in his spare time. Now one of his boy’s short, he is more man than ever. Recently, Mikal kHill, with amazing strength and transparency, fully documented on social media, his loss. After discovering a malignant tumor that required emergency surgery, he is down one testicle and a up brand new view on life. Cancer could have took his life and his followers got the day-to-day play-by-play. It was the scariest and most raw thing I’ve ever seen. Urging his boys to pay attention to their boys was the coolest story to which I’ve subscribed to date. Now living in the Boone area, you can catch him running around Asheville on occasion or at the Milestone when we are lucky. Follow all of his acts (Mikal kHill , the ThoughtCriminals, Two Weeks Notice, and The TroubleShooters) on social media, get on his blog, and listen to his stuff on Bandcamp, Spotify, or Tidal. Thank My City Magazine later.
