What do I Know? I’m just a Clown : July / Aug. 2018
“Ask the Clown” : an advice column by the Clown
July / Aug. 2018 issue of My City Magazine
Dear Clown,
Warmer weather is here and it means I will be wearing my favorite lightweight and, at times, light coverage clothing. Last year, I encountered several men shouting, driving by repeatedly, and even taking photos with their phones. I ignored all of them, but it made me mad when I thought about it later. What would you suggest I do to counter them this year?
Sincerely,
More Than This
Dear More,
If men are taking photos of you, call the police and let them handle it. Keep yourself safe as first priority. Do not dismiss or shrug off this kind of behavior. These “men” deserve all the embarrassment and exposure for this poor behavior.
What would their mothers say?
The Clown
Dear Clown,
I have been married for a year now and I think I made a huge mistake. My wife is a great person, but she is much more social than I will ever be and it seems that she does more in a day than I do all week. I feel like I cannot keep up and that she will determine that I am not enough for her. We dated for four years before we were married, so her pace was not a surprise, but now it makes me worry. How can I talk to her about this?
Sincerely,
Intro-Man
Dear Intro,
I pity you in the way that Mr. T pities a fool. You have been given a gift and you are second guessing it. Dating that long and then having her agree to marry you should be enough indication that you are enough for her. She loves you, ya lucky jerk. Don’t mess it up!
Enjoy some bliss,
The Clown
Dear Clown,
I have several creative ideas that I have written in a journal, but I have a lot of reservation about pursuing or creating these things. I am afraid that people will not like my work and my ideas and that it will all be a waste of time.
Sincerely,
Bottled Up
Dear Bottled,
You only get to ride this ride once. If there is something that you want to do to fulfill the needs of your soul, then do them. Damn the naysayer’s and damn fear. Paint, draw, write, sing, dance, and let your heart be free. Not everyone will get it or like it, and that is OK.
Have you seen my comic strip? Seriously… look at my comic strip.

Things I should not have to tell you
- Think about what you want to say or write before doing so. Once it’s out, it does not go away.
- If you don’t understand something, do some research and experience it to make you more well-rounded.
- Remember that there are people behind you trying to get somewhere.
- Celebrate the achievements of your friends whole-heartedly.
- You have many purposes in life. Be your best at all of them.
